Anyone who doesn't realise that the combination of unlimited government spending with the moral relativism which pervades this country's institutions can only lead to spiritual and economic bankruptcy needs their head examined. Unfortunately, large numbers of woolly-thinking Lefties still hold sway over mainstream culture, and it is they who have done most threaten the existence of the Post-war Settlement's greatest achievements, the Welfare State and the NHS, with their trendy ideologies of universal victimhood and emphasis of "do what thy wilt" over the individual, familial or social responsibilities which form the basis of civilised society. It is thanks to their politically correct idiocy that the Right can find an angle to justify the dismantling of these services. Poor Aneurin Bevan must be spinning in his grave.

The Litany of Labour Lies and Disingenuousness Continues
Whether it was their projected figures for Polish immigration, the existence of weapons of mass destruction, their claims of improved educational standards, their misleading statistics to show that immigration had benefited the UK economy, or indeed that they had transcended the boom/bust economic cycle, the Labour Party has done nothing but lie to the electorate. Now to these lies and broken promises we can add the bitterest deception of all - that Scottish Labour, once elected to the represent Cowdenbeath in the 2012 council elections, would reinstate the Pit Road public toilets. Indeed, they were swept to power on this mandate, on the backs of hopes of residents who would see their town with public facilities. But like so much of electioneering politic - see the April 2012 post of the Labour propaganda promising to "put the heart back into Cowdenbeath", which is clearly a reference to re-opening the Pit Road toilets - it turned out to be like another promise of an EU referendum, yet another expedient lie. Of all the people to point this out, it was ironically (and somewhat hypocritically) by SNP councillor and toilet-closer Alistair Bain, who was quoted in this week's Central Fife Times as saying (and I am not making this up): "The Labour administration has gone from the heroes that were going to re-open the Cowdenbeath toilets to the villains that will be closing toilets all over Fife." Clearly mindful of a recent illegal war which left 1 million Iraqi dead, Labour's Jayne Baxter was quick to refute yet another damaging villainy charge with the following "This is complete fantasy from the man who not only voted to close those toilets and voted to stop the local area committee looking for ways of keeping them open, but then stood back whilst his fellow SNP councillors sold the toilet building in 2010 for £35,000. The arrogance to now try and get the issue back up by inventing a pledge which he claims we made but is a complete untruth quite simply beggars belief. He seems to think if he says things often enough they become reality, but he is fooling no one." (my italics)
Er, well, Jayne, he might be fooling me. Because if you look at your campaign flyer for the council election, you will see that the although it does not state it explicitly, the implication is that Labour would reverse the SNP's toilet closure. Of course, the irony is, that despite this taxpayer-funded futile mudslinging over said bogs, and the internet forum heat it has generated, neither Alistair nor Jayne really give a flying fuck about the fate of the Pit Road toilets. Like so many in politics before them, from Blair to Brown downwards, it is all about maintaining the appearance of serving the people, and as has been shown in recent years, appearances are everything.

A reader's request...
...fresh out of our ever-bulging cyber postbag -
"Hi Bored Fifer,
Have just seen your photo of the Cowdenbeath snowman made last month. Well, here's a picture of the one I made at the same time, and I have to say it is better - not only does he have hair and eyebrows (and a scarf), but he is also in an action pose. Pretty cool, eh?
If you are going to publish yet another cold man though, can you also publish a hot one for the sake of balance, say, for example, I don't know, someone from Magic Mike for a bit of Monday morning cheer?"
Kathryn, Rosyth
Hi Kathryn,
What an excellent idea.

Cowden Snowman
Encountered beside the public path going up from the swimming pool during the recent cold snap (26th Jan). It's the little things that make a town.
Gone but not forgotten
In the week that three people decided to trawl Google for "cowdenbeath public toilets", and who thanks to Californian engineering were presented with this blog (which aside from its more obvious geopolitical focus has become the internet's number one website for information on the Pit Road toilet closures), coincidentally the Central Fife Times has today published a letter in which Maureen Kennedy describes the Pit Road toilets as "that landmark building". It has been five years, but clearly the people have not forgotten.

There are occasions when you can see where Anders Breivik was coming from.
When the BBC reported on the court case resulting from Operation Bullfinch in Oxford two days ago, it declined to name the men responsible for the 51 counts of drugging, grooming and subsequent rape and prostitution of six young girls, most of whom were 11 and 12 years old and deliberately targeted by the men for their vulnerability. Indeed, not only did it fail to mention Akhtar Dogar, Anjum Dogar, Bassam Karrar, Mohammed Karrar, Kamar Jamil, Zeeshan Ahmed, Assad Hussain, Bilal Ahmed and Mohammed Hussain by name, it also declined to make any reference to their ethnicity, describing them instead as 'local men'. It was actually a surprise that the BBC used the courtroom artist's portrait at all, given that it does, in this case, paint a thousand words to the viewer. Though maybe this was a bit of subversion on the part of the reporter, who knew that he had to choose his words carefully lest he be censored by the BBC multi-cultural stasi, who categorically failed to mention the ethnic element in the Rochdale sex abuse scandal. And yes, while this is yet more evidence that many immigrant men from third world cultures continue to see women, especially white women, as sub-human tradeable commodities and that the mass importation of such 'enriching' culture threatens to send UK society back to the Middle Ages, the Cultural Marxists who make up the UK Establishment blithely continue importing these cultures wholesale and without question, as to question the validity of another culture, especially a post-colonial one, is not only to be obviously racist (boo hiss), but even worse, for our soi-disant liberal, relativist intelligentsia, to make a value judgement. And you can't make a value judgement on any minority culture, be they brown people or travellers, as everyone knows that they are always blameless victims acting out the trauma of historical oppression, and hey guys, different cultural beliefs, even if they manifest themselves as organised sexual abuse, slavery, inbreeding, female genital mutiliation and selective abortion by gender, is just so vibrant and enriching.
This is not to say that the UK establishment is only kind in its reporting of Asian paedophiles. For white paedophiles, especially if they are celebrities, it has been shown that the BBC often doesn't report the facts at all until it has to, preferably posthumously, and the Establishment meanwhile bestow knighthoods upon them and give them seats in the House of Lords or the keys to Broadmoor. Seen from this angle, it could be postulated that the Oxford Nine have good cause to claim discrimination in their treatment (I'm sure Cherie Blair will happy accept the Legal Aid fees for such a test case.)
When the abyss begins to stare back at you
Regular readers of this blog who have not recently purchased a copy of the Central Fife Times might be unaware of the announcement that the CFT has now gone Android, and is available as a free smartphone app. This development means that you can now read the usual mind-crushing Cowdengelly news articles and David Kinnell letters on the go, and on the platform of your choice, which in a way is a fitting tribute and culmination of everything Steve Jobs worked for. It goes without saying however that this blog still advises shelling out the weekly 55p for the non-virtual newspaper to support local journalism. Use it or lose it!

"Hey, Tony, did you read David Kinnell's letter about the slightly-too-high speed bump in Auchterderran Road? He's really got a point."

You know you are officially old when...
if given the choice between an intimate evening with the hot young Harry Styles (pictured), or an evening of listening to the charismatic Nigel Farage having a rant about Europe, there really would be no contest.

Gotta Love the Japanese...
The Daily Telegraph recently published a story reported by News on Japan, about a Japanese man called Mao Sugiyama who had his penis and testicles surgically removed in March and, after having them certified free of sexually transmitted diseases and frozen, then served them personally to 70 paying guests who each paid 20,000 yen (approx £158) for the unique dining experience.
This is being repeated here on this blog as four questions immediately sprang to mind, and it would be interesting if these are the same questions that other readers have when reading the same information.
1. Is the "Certified Free of STDs" certificate the equivalent the Soil Association's "Certified Organic" certificate for the Japanese?
2. Were the genitals frozen immediately to "lock in the freshness"?
3. Would a Japanese cock and balls really provide a meal to 70 people, even if it was of the high-concept 80s-style haute cuisine variety? Even an individual of a more traditionally well-endowed race would surely be struggling to feed 70 people, let alone a Jap.
4. Is the UK is giving any form of economic aid to Japan? (Cameron's government seems hell bent on spunking UK taxpayer cash to rich and poor nations all over the globe in some kind of misguided patrician gesture) If we are, then we need to stop it now.
On a darker note, the same article also highlighted that Issei Sagawa, the Japanese man who ate body parts from a Dutch woman he killed in a Paris apartment in 1981 has been a free man in Japan since 1986, after being extradited from France and being declared sane by a Japanese hospital. His liberty reflects the fact that cannibalism is not illegal in Japan so, like the cock-eating diners above, he was not charged. And given that he was free in 1986, evidently murder isn't such a big deal to them either.
